How it all started...
Lea Pianna is a Swiss artist known primarily for her illuminated sculptures and light art, a field in which she has worked as a freelance artist since 1990. After her career in theater, she created in 1990 the first Functional Art sculptures for the exhibition ‘Mädchen in Sicht’ in Berlin (heated cat sofa with nose squeaking and dragon sofa with siren and fart noise. Her artistic practice includes a diverse range of materials such as fiberglass/epoxy, fabric; clay, plaster, concrete, ceramic, wood, and mixed media, often combined in her sculptures and light installations. Inspired by nature, especially the sea, Pianna’s work seeks to inspire by creating beautiful objects that evoke a stunning atmosphere, seamlessly blending fine art with functional design. She has a rich background in stage and costume design, which informs her sculptural and light art creations, bringing a theatrical dimension to her pieces. Based in Feldmeilen, Switzerland, she continues to develop her art, which has been featured in exhibitions and artist gatherings, highlighting her engagement with the contemporary art community.
